We talked about the concepts and principles behind Cloud Pod design and
implementation. As you know, using Cloud Pod you can connect multiple different
sites and allow you to develop and create recovery scenarios for you. Now we
want to talk about how to setup this feature in the test environment. In our
example, we will launch another connection server called HZN7-CS1B. This server
is placed on our second Pod on the second Pod.
Note that this server will be installed as Connection Server and will
not be named as Replica server!
In the diagram below, the type of implementation is displayed to you:
Start using the Cloud Pod
from the View Administrator console in the Inventory section in the upper left corner, open the View Configuration pane and click on Cloud Pod Architecture (1). Then click on the Initialize the Cloud Pod Architecture option (2).
The page for Initialize opens:
Click OK to begin initialization. As you can see, the initial preparation process begins, and the state of progress is shown in percentage terms on the page.
When the Cloud Pod process is completed, the Reload page will appear as shown below:
Click the OK button to restart the client. You now see the Cloud Pod Architecture page in the View Administrator console.
As you can see, there is a Pod Federation called the Horizon Cloud Pod
Federation. If necessary, you can change this name with one click and the Edit
... button. Listed items are fully identified. In the current test environment,
there is only one Connection Server named HZN7-CS1. In the next step, we
connect the Connection Server in the second Pod to the federation that we
created.
Connect Pod Two to Cloud Pod:
The next step is the process of joining other devices into the federation. Log on to the View Administrator console for the Second Connection Server. HZN7-CS1B In our testing environment, this server is on the second site. Repeat the previous steps, enter the View Administrator console, click on the Inventory in the upper left corner, open the View Configuration section, click on Cloud Pod Architecture (1). But the difference with the previous part starts here. You should click on the Join to pod federation option (2).
Now you must enter the Connection Server information that is located in the Cloud Pod first. In our example, Connection Server Specification is HZN7-CS1.
In the Connection Server field, enter the name of your server
connection. As we said earlier, our example is HZN-7- CS1. In the username
field, enter the user name that has access to the join. In this example,
administrator has this access. It is better to enter your login format with \.
As you can see in the picture below, the join process starts with a percentage view of the progress of the work.
When this step is completed, you will encounter the Reload screen:
Click the OK button. You see the Cloud Pod Architecture page:
As you can see, there are both pods in the list. In this example we have
two connection servers named HZN7-CS1 and HZN-CS1B. Now that we've built a pod
federation with Cloud Pod Architecture and added a second pod, you can create a
Global Entitlements.
Entitling Users to the Cloud Pod: (Accessing Users in the Cloud Pod)
In this section, create a desktop pool and create an entitling to connect the users to the pool desktop. From the View Administrator console, to the left of the Inventory option, open the Catalog section, and then click Global Entitlement (1). Click the Add ... button (2)
The Add Global Entitlement page is displayed to you, in the first section you must select your Entitlement type:
In this example, let's create a desktop entitlement, so use the radio
button to select the Desktop Entitlement option (3), and then click the Next
button. Now the Name and Polices settings page is displayed for you. First,
select a name for this desktop pool.
In the Polices section, you can specify the users and determine which desktop float or which one has a dedicated desktop. Also, in the scope section, you can choose which desktops are available for which sites. The choice of using a home site depends on your circumstances and your choice. The latest configuration is for the desktop display protocol, resetting machines to users, and accessing HTML.
When the settings are complete, click the Next button. The page for Users and Group is displayed:
Click the Add ... button (4). You will see the Find User or Group settings page:
In the Domain section, select your domain (5). Then, in
the Name / User Name (6) field, specify the username that you want to assign to
this pool, and then click the Find button
(7). User details are displayed. Select the user (8),
then press the OK button.
You returned to the Users and Groups page.
Click the Next button. You are viewing the Ready to Complete page.
Check the items carefully and click the Finish button to make sure the settings are correct.
Return to Global Entitlements. You see the Global Desktop Pool and the number of users assigned to it.
The Cloud Pod Federation has been successfully
configured.
