Horizon View Installation & Configuration - Part 06 - Setting and Configuring The View Events Database

The final part of the work you need to perform for the initial view is the viewevents database. If you have minded, in the previous sections we created a database named viewevents and used the same database for the settings:

1. From the View Administrator home screen, in the Inventory section, we'll open View Configuration, and then select Event Configuration (1).

2. On the Event Database page, click Edit ... (2). Something like the image below is displayed to you.

3. In the Database server (3) field, enter the name of the SQL server that you want to collect the events.

4. Make sure Microsoft SQL Server is selected from the drop-down menu (4). Another option is to select the Oracle database, which is not applicable to us in this example.

5. Leave the port part (5). The default port is 1433. In the Database name field, enter your database name (6).

6. In the Username field (7), enter this database and in the Password section (8), select a password for this user and enter the password again in the confirm password (9) field.

7. Finally, in the Table prefix (10) section, you can consider a name as a prefix.

Now we can announce that we have successfully completed and completed the initial tasks to configure the Connection Server.

Install View Replica Server

Next, we'll launch a second View Connection Server. The View Connection Next Servers are called Replica Servers. Additional server connections are generally launched to create availability, which we have talked about a lot about. Our second connection server is installed on a virtual machine called HZN7-CS2. We consider a static IP and join the server to the domain.

1. Open the HZN7-CS2 car console and go to the Horizon view installation folder. In this example, the files are located in a shared folder on the Domain Controller.

2. Run the VMware-viewconnectionserver-x86_64-7.0.0-3633490 file. All steps are similar to installing the connection server, but the configuration is different.

3. If you encounter a Windows Security Warning message, click Run.

4. Log in to welcome to the installation page.

5. By default, you click the Next button.

6. In the License Agreement section, put the radio button on the I accept the terms in the license agreement and click the Next button. Choose the place you want to install the program there.

7. It is best to not change the default and click the Next button.

8. You can see the Installation Option page.

9. This is the second connection server or our Replica Server. From the Horizon 7 Connection Server list, select the Horizon 7 Replica Server option (1).

10. Check the Install HTML Access option (2). This allows users to access their desktops via the Blast protocol with a browser that supports HTML5. The last option in this section is the IP protocol used. IPv4 or IPv6. We use IPv4 in this example (3).

11. Let's press Next to go to the next step.

12. The page for the Source Server settings will appear for you.

13. In the Server field, enter the first connection server address (4).

14. Click the Next button. The Firewall Configuration page appears.

15. The Configure Windows Firewall option appears automatically, and then click Next. The Ready to Install the Program page is displayed.

16. Click the Install button to start the installation roster.

17. When the Replica Server is installed, the Installer installation screen appears. Click Finish to close this page.

18. We check that Replica Server is installed correctly and implemented correctly; we log on to View Administrator:

19. From the Inventory menu, we'll open the View Configuration section and click on Servers (5). Click on the Connection Servers tab (6). You will see that the replica server named hzn7-cs2 has been added to the list (7).

You have two connection servers at the moment, do not forget that Horizon View does not have a standard way to load balance between Connection Servers or Security Servers. To do this, you need to go to the VMware documentation to find and implement the best solution.
