Horizon View Installation & Configuration - Part 05 - View Connection Server Primary Configuration

After you install the View connection server, you can connect to the server through the console, which is known as the View Administrator and the main configuration is done. To open this console, you need to install Adobe Flash 10.1 or higher on your system. Open a browser and type in the View Connection server address.

The View Administrator login screen is similar to the following:

Log in using the administrator account. Make sure that the domain you selected matches your domain and then click the Log In button. This is the first time you log in to View Administrator. The first thing that you need to configure is the license status of the program.

1. On the left side of the page, you see the Inventory menu. The Product Licensing and Usage option is indicated on the photo below. Click the Edit License ... button (1)

Add vCenter Server to View Administrator

The next task you need to do to configure View is to establish a connection between View Administrator and vCenter Server:

1. On the View Administrator home screen, open View Configuration (1), select Servers (2). On the Server page, make sure you are in the vCenter Server tab (3), click the Add ... button (4).

 

2. The vCenter Server Information page is displayed to you:

3. In Server address (5), type the address for the vCenter server.

4. In the Username field (6), type the vCenter and type in the password that you have for this account (7).

5. A warning screen will appear that contains the Invalid Certificate Detected message.

6. Click View Certificate ... (8). Now information about the certificate is displayed.

7. Press the Accept button (9).

8. On the next screen you will see the View Composer Setting section.

9. There are three choices for setting View Composer: First, you do not use View Composer; the second View Composer is installed on the same server as vCenter, and the third one is a standalone server for View Composer.

10. In our testing environment, View Composer is installed on a standalone server on a separate server. So, choose the Standalone View Composer Server option (10).

11. Next, you need to enter the View Composer Server information. In the Server address field, type the name of the View Composer server.

12. When you enter the information, click the Next button.

13. When you add a vCenter server, you will again receive an invalid certificate Detected message:

14. Click the View Certificate ... button (14). The Certificate Information page appears:

15. Click the Accept button. (15) The View Composer Domain settings page is displayed:

16. Click the Add ... button (16). You will see the Add Domain settings:

17. In the Full domain name field, enter your domain name. In the user name section, you must enter a user that can create or delete the object's computer in Active Directory.

18. Finally, enter the password associated with this account.

19. When you enter the information, click the OK button.

20. You are now returning to the View Composer Domains page.

21. Click the Next button.

22. The settings page for the storage appears. There are two main sections to adjust. The first part is the Reclaim settings for the virtual desktop. If you select this option, virtual machine disk drives will be configured with space-efficient mode. (Optimally used) are allowed to be reclaimed for any unused space on the desktop.

23. The next option is to configure the Storage Accelerator. This feature can cause a certain amount of memory to be used as a read cache. This will reduce the Storage overheads used locally or locally on virtual machines.

24. By default, it is set to 1 GB of memory for each server and can be upgraded to 2 GB per server or replaced. If you click on Show all hosts, you can choose individually for each host and the cache size settings vary on each server host.

25. In this example, we will enable Reclaim VM disk space and select Enable View Storage Accelerator.

26. Click the Next button.

27. Everything is ready and ready.

28. At the end, press the Finish button to finalize the configuration. You go back to the View Administrator page, you see that vCenter has been added to the settings.
